College Appoints Associate Deans of Student Affairs, Admissions and Recruitment

Susan Kaib, MD, and Glen Fogerty, PhD, have been named to leadership positions at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix. Dr. Kaib has been named associate dean of Student Affairs and Dr. Fogerty has been appointed associate dean of Admissions and Recruitment.

As associate dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Kaib will oversee student service aspects of the medical school. “Her commitment to our college, students and the Arizona community made her a fantastic choice for this role,” said University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix dean Guy Reed, MD, MS. Dr. Kaib has been with the college for eight years, initially hired as the assistant director of the Doctoring Program. She has taken on various roles, including teaching students as an associate professor in the Department of Family, Community and Preventive Medicine, a career and professional advisor in the Department of Student Affairs, and in 2016, she was named interim associate dean of Student Affairs.

Susan Kaib, MDDr. Kaib has been recognized by her peers for her dedication and passion for health care, including the Phoenix Gold Humanism Honor Society Faculty Award in 2015 and the Master Educator Award from the Class of 2013.

Dr. Kaib received her bachelor's of science degree from Arizona State University in Chemistry. She attended the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson for her medical degree and completed her residency in Family Practice at Phoenix Baptist Hospital.

Glen Fogerty, PhD, has been named associate dean of Admissions and Recruitment, where he will be responsible for all aspects of the college’s professional MD admissions process. He helps support the medical school’s education outreach functions, along with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion. Dr. Fogerty oversees implementation of high school and college outreach activities, community and school partnerships, as well as the development of a robust pipeline program for diverse and talented students.

“Dr. Fogerty’s commitment to medical education and our students is inspiring,” said dean Reed. “He has achieved so much already in his time here, including leading the college to a record number of applications in 2017. I’m excited to see him implement new ways to enhance our educational outreach.”

Glen Fogerty, PhDDr. Fogerty was named as interim assistant dean of the Office of Admissions and Recruitment in 2016 and assistant professor in Bioethics and Medical Humanism. He also serves as the co-block director for the medical school’s first course — Introduction to Medicine.

Prior to joining the UA family, he held administrative appointments at Northwestern University, Arizona State University and Summit Law School. He has served as dean of Graduate Programs, dean of Admissions and has been a member of the senior leadership advisory group at each institution.

Dr. Fogerty received his bachelor's of science in Hospitality Administration from Georgia State University and a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies with a concentration in Higher Education Administration at Arizona State University.
