The University of Arizona (UA), in partnership with COX Communications, presents Connect2STEM — a free, family friendly event celebrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and Medicine. STEM enthusiasts have the opportunity to interact with 100+ tables of hands-on science activities. Last year, the event drew more than 9,000 children and their families.
STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines — science, technology, engineering and mathematics. In our case, we add medicine to those disciplines.
Many of Connect2STEM’s activities are geared toward K-8th grade youth. Although that is the core audience, Connect2STEM also offers interactive experiences with equipment from our Center for Simulation and Innovation that are meant to engage attendees who are in high school.
Food and drinks are not complimentary at the event, but light snacks and drinks are offered for sale during the event.
There is visitor parking available in the *PBC garage, which is located at the southeast corner of 5th Street and Fillmore (entrances are on the south side of Fillmore and the east side of 5th Street).
The rate is $3 per hour or $15 for the day. *If you register prior to the day of the event, you will receive $5 parking in this lot for the entire day. Note: parking garage fills up early. All parking is first come, first served.

In its four years, the event has drawn more than 55 different departments, clubs, schools and organizations to participate. This includes all three state universities — University of Arizona, Arizona State University and Northern Arizona University; corporations like APS, Google, Intel and Blue Cross Blue Shield; community partners of the college, such as the Children’s Museum of Phoenix and the Arizona Science Center and many more.
Major sponsors for Connect2STEM 2019 included Cox Communications, Blue Cross Blue Shield, USAA, APS, Southwest Airlines and City of Phoenix. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor and being listed in the official program, please contact Heather Kleeman, 602-827-2007.
