Michael R. Foley, MD
In addition to serving as chair for the college's Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Foley is chairman of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix, as well. He has also served as a Board Examiner in the maternal-fetal medicine subspecialty; is the past president of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine-National (2008); was the recipient of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine Lifetime Achievement Award (2013); is the lead editor of Obstetric Intensive Care: a Practical Manual, currently is in its fifth edition; and is a co-editor for Critical Care Obstetrics, which is going into its sixth edition.
As department chair, he will oversee and coordinate activities to enhance the culture and camaraderie among Banner physicians and College of Medicine – Phoenix faculty to help elevate collective scholarship, as well as build quality into their model.
Dr. Foley established a strong academic environment at Banner, where he implemented new programs in Women’s Sexual Medicine, a Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery Fellowship and development of a Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship.
He received his medical degree in 1984 from Chicago Medical School and completed residency training in obstetrics and gynecology and a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at The Ohio State University Hospital in 1988 and 1990, respectively. He previously served as chief medical officer at HonorHealth, formerly Scottsdale Healthcare, and as medical director of Phoenix Perinatal Associates in Phoenix.
