Girls in STEM Event Inspires and Encourages Girls to Pursue Related Careers

On Saturday, October 27, the Arizona Science Center hosted a Girls in Stem event. 

The day involved 112 girls and several female mentors networking, gaining a love of STEM fields and working together in Halloween-style science, technology, engineering and mathematics workshops. Creating an engagement with STEM early with girls and introducing them to mentors is crucial to keeping their interest, noted Linda Nelson, MD, PhD, a professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of the College's Women in Medicine and Science Committee
