We use assessments throughout training to determine individual resident preparedness and suggest individualized study plans.

  • MKSAP Curriculum for Non-Call Rotations – The program purchases a digital MKSAP subscription for all residents. Sections of it are completed corresponding to the rotation. This allows a timely connection between studying and patient care.
  • Johns Hopkins Ambulatory Curriculum – Online modules from this nationally recognized resource are utilized during ambulatory months and for the continuity of clinic curriculum.
  • Academic Half Day (AHD) Weekly Board Prep Questions and End-of-the-Month Tests – Each week in AHD, the session starts and ends with board style questions based on the objectives and pre-reading. At the end of the month, there is a test on the topics and articles of the month.
  • Annual In-Training Exam – All residents take the ACPs In-Training Exam (ITE) every year as an opportunity to simulate a board exam and track test-taking skill and acquisition of medical knowledge.
  • Mock ABIM Exam – All PGY2 and PGY3 take this and participate in the corresponding review session.
  • End-of-the-Year Board Review Series – The program pays the tuition and provides coverage of clinical responsibilities for graduating residents to attend a six-day board review program.
  • Other Resources – Additional books, videos and series have been purchased and are available in the Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix library for review.
