Residents receive training in all orthopaedic sub-specialties. Experience between rotations is varied, with some rotations functioning as an apprenticeship model, and others as a team service.

Didactics

Weekly didactics are a highlight of our program. Each Wednesday, residents have protected time for didactics from 1:00 – 6:00 p.m. Presentations from residents and faculty prepare residents for in-training exams and encourage scholarly development. The core curriculum includes integrates anatomy, basic science, clinical acumen, journal club, and grand rounds. Additionally, each service conducts specialty-specific conferences.

Clinical Experience

The majority of rotations are completed at Banner University Medical Center- Phoenix, a level one trauma center located in downtown Phoenix. Each resident receives comprehensive training in:

  • Adult Reconstruction.
  • Pediatric Orthopaedics.
  • Sports.
  • Hand and Upper Extremity.
  • Foot and Ankle.
  • Musculoskeletal Oncology.
  • Spine.
  • Orthopaedic Research.
