Undergraduate: University of California, Berkeley Medical School: University of Arizona Tucson Why Arizona and Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix:
My reason for Arizona is family as my husband refuses to live anywhere else. His favorite saying is "you can't shovel sunshine." My favorite thing about Arizona is the monsoon season, the great swimming weather and the desert lifestyle. I chose Banner because of the family and academic environment. Even as a medical student, I felt that the faculty and staff were very supportive and were always willing to take time and teach. As a resident, we have a really good time learning and working together, but also hanging out and supporting each other as well.

Undergraduate: University of Arizona - Tucson Medical School: Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine of Midwestern University - Glendale Why Arizona and Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix: Arizona is a great place to live with a lot of opportunity and I had a great experience rotating at BUMCP as a medical student! I appreciated the professional commitment I saw among the faculty and residents in the program and was impressed by the educational resources available through the Banner system.

Undergraduate Austin College Graduate: University of Texas Medical Branch Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences Medical School: University of Texas Medical Branch School of Medicine at Galveston Why Arizona and Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix: I was looking for a program that was small, Resident-centered, in a major city and which served a diverse patient population. I think this is a combination that is often difficult to find, so I was happy to find it here. I am also a very outdoorsy person, so I liked that I had access to all the activities I enjoy including climbing, hiking, skiing and playing tennis.

Undergraduate: University of Arizona Medical School: University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson Why Arizona and Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix: Growing up in Phoenix and attending undergrad and medical school in Tucson, I was ready to be back by my family and friends. I chose Banner because of the supportiveness of both faculty and fellow residents. Faculty have an open door policy and encourage residents to ask questions, but also take ownership of cases. I find our program to be the perfect balance of autonomy and teaching and am so glad to be a part of it!

The opportunity for excellent training in a large metro center with a warm climate brought me to Arizona. I have enjoyed the atmosphere of friendly collaboration with fellow residents and also working closely with faculty who are welcoming, supportive and great teachers.
