Scientists, Physicians Present Latest Findings on Medical School Campus
Research projects from eight Phoenix-area hospitals were presented Wednesday, May 6, at the 19th Academic Excellence Day at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix.
The research displays and presentations were part of a daylong educational program held in the Health Sciences Education Building on the downtown Phoenix campus, culminating in the handing out of awards for both oral and poster presentations. Among the winners from this year was 2013 UA College of Medicine – Phoenix graduate Megan Hunt. This year’s program was sponsored by the Mutual Insurance Company of Arizona (MICA).
Participating hospitals at this year’s event included Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix, Maricopa Integrated Health System, the Phoenix VA Health Care System, Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Dignity Health/St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, Phoenix Baptist Hospital, HonorHealth and Mayo Clinic Scottsdale.
Academic Excellence Day is an opportunity to focus attention on the magnitude and variety of clinical and bench research done by residents, fellows, graduate students, clinical allied health staff and physician staff. Nearly 100 poster presentations were exhibited from residents, fellows and attending physicians associated with the affiliated residency programs or clinical departments.
The keynote presentation was delivered by Robert Raschke, MD, MS, the program director of pulmonary critical care at Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix.
