THREE-YEAR PROGRAM

Pre-Med Academy Orientation Chart

Orientation

Date: Saturday, August 11, 2018, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

This mandatory Orientation session will provide an overview and information on each year of the three-year program.

Year 1 – Exposure to Medical Field

Academic Year 2018-2019

The first year of the program will introduce areas of the medical field and assist students with deciding if a future in medicine is the right fit for them.

Activities included in Year 1:

  • Medical exposure activities.
  • Introduction to student groups.
  • Research opportunities. 
  • Medical student panels.
  • Clinical experience at Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix (40 hours).

Year 2 – MCAT Preparation

Academic Year 2019-2020

In the second year of the program, students will be offered resources and advice on how to prepare for the MCAT, including:

  • Workshops.
  • Practice test and sample questions.
  • Medical student panels.
  • One-on-one advising.
  • Clinical experience at Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix (40 hours).

Year 3 – Preparing to Apply

Academic Year 2020-2021

The final year of the program will focus on preparing a complete and competitive application to apply to the upcoming admissions season. We will cover:

  • Application tips.
  • Interview preparation.
  • Mock Multiple Mini-Interviews (MMIs).
  • One-on-one advising.
  • Clinical experience at Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix (60–80 hours).

Activities

During each year of the program, students will complete at least five activities throughout the academic year to build and maintain a relationship with the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix. Opportunities may include:
