The importance of this goal is underscored by the recognition and support of interprofessional collaborative practice core competencies by an expert panel of the Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC).*

*American Association of Colleges of Medicine, American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine, American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, American Association of Colleges of Nursing, American Dental Association and the Association of Schools of Public Health.

 

The Interprofessional Collaborative Practice Competency Domains are:

  • Interprofessional Communication.
  • Roles/Responsibilities.
  • Teams and Teamwork.
  • Values/Ethics for Interprofessional Practice.

The College of Medicine - Phoenix is committed to providing experiences in which the students engage in learning activities with students from other health professions. (University of Arizona, College of Pharmacy, College of Public Health, Northern Arizona University, Allied Health and Arizona State University, School of Social Work, College of Nursing and School of Nutrition and Health Promotion.) An interprofessional curriculum is under development at this time in conjunction with the UA College of Pharmacy, the ASU College of Nursing, the ASU School of Social Work and the NAU College of Allied Health with the support of the Josiah Macy, Jr. Foundation Grant. Projects, workshops, group discussions, as well as clinical experiences, will be involved in this curriculum.
