Fasting as the New Medicine

Friday, May 7, 2021 12:00 PM

The Muslim Medical Student Association is hosting a lunch talk featuring faculty and public health expert Farshad Fani Marvasti, MD, MPH, to talk about the health benefits of fasting. This event is inspired by the holy month of Ramadan where Muslims practice fasting from sunrise to sunset. The event will not be faith-based and will  focus on the scientific aspects of fasting.
Fasting has been around for thousand of years as part of religious and cultural traditions. It is only recently that medical research has discovered that it has clear and powerful health benefits for a variety of medical conditions and longevity. Come to share your experiences, learn about some of the research and how this can be applied to clinical practice.
