Guadalupe Federico, PhD, is an associate professor in Internal Medicine, and assistant dean of Faculty Affairs and Career Development for the College of Medicine – Phoenix at the University of Arizona. She is involved with the implementation and study of faculty development programming and faculty recruitment and retention practices at the clinical, division/department, college and broader university levels. Dr. Federico advises early and mid-career physician and non-physician college faculty on dossier preparation, program evaluation, career advancement in medical education and leadership skills. Her research focuses on the study of organizational culture, physician-faculty mentorship and physician teaching incentives. Her investigative expertise is in qualitative methods and integration approaches using mixed-method inquiry.
Dr. Federico also holds national leadership roles as an invited contributor to the AAMC’s Group on Faculty Affairs (GFA) as an annual conference moderator and lead author of the 2021 Principles of Academic Life-Appointments, Promotion and Tenure for the new faculty tool kit. She was recently appointed as the chairwoman for the AAMC GFA’s Research and Scholarship Committee and is the western region communications representative for the Group on Educational Affair’s (GEA) Medical Education Scholarship Research and Evaluation (MESRE) committee.
