Why Arizona and UArizona College of Medicine – Phoenix: I developed an interest in geriatric psychiatry in medical school, and my interest grew with the experiences I had in my residency program here. I enjoyed my clinical rotations at Banner Alzheimer’s Institute and the Phoenix VA, and I wanted to apply to the fellowship to gain more knowledge and expertise in this growing field. Caring for older adults comes with many challenges and complexities, and I wanted to continue to learn from the faculty here. Arizona has also been a great place to live for my family. We love the sunshine and like to spend the weekends hiking and camping.

Why Arizona and UArizona College of Medicine – Phoenix: I’ve been trying to get back to Phoenix ever since I served an active-duty tour at Luke Air Force base. When applying for fellowship, I found the perfect opportunity to relocate to my ideal location along with being trained at a world-class Alzheimer’s Institute. U of A Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship program was recommended to me by one of my mentors during residency. When I interviewed, I was impressed with the resources for geriatric patients and specialized training I would receive. As additional bonuses, I’m a big tennis player, and the weather is very accommodating except in July and August, Also, the unique school system in Arizona allows families to enroll their children in specialized schools at no additional cost. My children are enrolled in dual-language programs.
