Michael Bryer-Ash, MD, FRCP(Lond), FRCP(C)

Brief Bio

Michael Bryer-Ash, MD, is professor and chief of the Division of Endocrinology, as well as the physician director of the Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix and College of Medicine – Phoenix Endocrine Institute. Previously, he worked for the USPHS as Area Diabetes Consultant for the tri-state Oklahoma City Area of the Indian Health Service. He was a professor of Medicine and associate chief of Endocrinology at David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and director of the UCLA subspecialty training program in endocrinology.

Dr. Bryer-Ash earned his medical degree from the Middlesex Hospital Medical School of London University, London, England. He completed a surgical internship at St. Andrew’s Hospital and a medical internship at St. George’s Hospital Medical School, both in London and was a resident in internal medicine at the University of Chicago Hospitals and senior resident at Stanford University Medical Center. He completed fellowships in endocrinology and metabolism at Stanford University and at the University of California, San Diego.

He is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Boards of Internal Medicine, the Royal College of Physicians of Canada, as well as the Royal College of Physicians of London, UK, and in endocrinology and metabolism by the American Boards of Internal Medicine and the Royal College of Physicians of Canada. His research interests include insulin signal transduction and the pathogenesis of obesity, insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes.
