Program Overview

Summer Scrubs is a health career exploration program that helps young people prepare for their future in the health professions by providing the opportunity to participate in professional lectures, health-related fieldtrips and hands-on lab experiences. Scrub in this summer at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix! 

2017 Summer Scrubs Sessions

The Health Care Team – 9th/10th Grade:
The Health Care Team sessions are for current 9th and 10th grade students who are interested in a health care career, but who are unsure as to which path to take. Participants will spend a week exploring several health care occupations by learning from medical doctors, physician's assistants, nurses and others who make-up the health care team.

Explore Medical School – 11th Grade:
The Explore Medical School sessions are for current 11th grade students who are interested in becoming a physician. Participants will spend one week exploring physician specialties by learning from various medical doctors.

  • Session 1 (Residential):
    • Dates: June 4 – June 9.
    • Overnight Program? Yes.
    • Times: Check-in will be June 4 at 3:00 p.m., and checkout will be June 9 at 4:00 p.m.
    • Cost: $500* – All students are encouraged to apply for full and partial need-based scholarships.
    • Eligibility: Current 11th grade students who are approaching senior year and meet one or more of the following criteria:
      • Socioeconomically disadvantaged.
      • First generation college attendee.
      • From rural Arizona.
      • Member of Federally recognized American Indian Tribe.

*Full and partial need-based scholarships provided by Arizona Latin Medical Association and Greater Valley Arizona Health Education Center.
