Overview

The Department of Internal Medicine, chaired by Michael Fallon, MD, is advancing the future of academic medicine through integrated clinical, research and educational programs.

Through a partnership with Banner Health, we have developed specialized, multidisciplinary programs in areas including endocrinology, cardiovascular medicine, pulmonary medicine, gastroenterology and solid organ transplantation. This collaborative approach brings physicians together to provide exceptional patient care, advance research and enhance medical education.

Another key focus is strengthening the clinical and research partnerships that the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix has developed with community physicians and collaborating institutions, including Phoenix Children’s, the Phoenix VA Health Care System, the college’s regional branches in Yuma and Gila River, as well as other partners. These collaborations provide valuable opportunities to enhance the education of medical students, residents and fellows while expanding research and improving patient care.

As a community of scholars, our physicians and scientists are at the forefront of biomedical research and innovation. Through leading-edge research, collaboration and the translation of discoveries into clinical practice, the department is committed to advancing disease prevention, treatment and patient care.

The Department of Internal Medicine is also home to a diverse group of specialized divisions, each contributing to our mission of excellence in patient care, education and research.
