Program Overview
The Pre-Medical Summer School is a three-month pathway program for undergraduate and graduate students in Phoenix, Arizona. It enhances medical school competitiveness through workshops, seminars, panels, and hands-on experiences, including volunteering through one of College of Medicine – Phoenix’s clinical partners, the Banner University Medical Center – Phoenix. The PMSS allows students from around Arizona and out-of-state students to participate in the program. However, we do not provide housing or transportation accommodations.
The program is guided by the college’s four pillars: Education, Research, Clinical, and Community; all of which are considered in our mission-based review of medical school applications.
Thank you to our dedicated faculty, staff, medical students, and the BUMC-Phoenix Volunteer Department for generously volunteering their time. We also extend our gratitude to the physicians across our clinical partners and private practices who open their doors to provide shadowing opportunities. Your collective support allows us to offer the Pre-Medical Summer School at no cost to participants.
We are also excited to share that, through our continued partnership with the AZHope Foundation, we are now able to offer $1,000 stipends to eligible students for a second year. These stipends are intended to help offset expenses incurred during the program and further reduce financial barriers to participation.
