Research Week

TReO is thrilled to announce the College's Inaugural Research Week Monday, May 5th - Friday, May 9th. For the first time, the College will be hosting a Research Week showcasing multiple research events that were previously held at different times of the year. These events will be held in this new format to foster collaboration and highlight exciting research projects and discoveries among diverse groups at all training levels. Thanks to our generous sponsors, the Arizona Biomedical Research Centre and the Flinn Foundation, there is no cost to attend these events.

Annual Events

The Translational Research Office (TReO) hosts various research conferences and symposia throughout the year. More information on annual events can be found on the annual events page and the college's events calendar. Contact the Translational Research Office with questions or to request to receive updates about upcoming research events.

Please visit the Workshops and Trainings page to learn more about biostatistics, compliance, lab safety, orcid and various trainings.

Research Education

The college provides multiple opportunities for those wishing to learn more about conducting research. Some opportunities include:

  • International Research Fellowship -The College of Medicine – Phoenix International Research Fellowship Program is dedicated to nurturing global connections through research development and publication, under the guidance of experienced faculty mentors.
  • Flinn Foundation Summer Internship Program - The University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix and Flinn Foundation Summer Research Internship provides a hands-on opportunity for qualified undergraduate students to engage in hypothesis-driven biomedical research. Interns work in a collaborative interdisciplinary environment that fosters critical thinking, scientific analysis, technical laboratory skills, and clinical techniques.

  • Trainee Seminar SeriesTuesdays 4:00PM - 5:00 PM in BSPB 115 - This seminar series is a weekly opportunity for graduate students and postdocs to present their latest research and receive feedback. Each session includes two twenty-minute presentations and all participants receive and provide peer feedback.

  • Biotech Research Development and Entrepreneurialism (BRDE) Coffee, Consultation, and Collaboration Series Each month, the team discusses a different component of bioscience research, development, and innovation. The series provides an open forum for researchers to discuss their translational findings, receive feedback, and gain insight on product development and funding opportunities. The initiative is supported by the Flinn Foundation and aims to foster a culture of medical innovation and translate research findings into tangible health solutions. The initiative is led by BRDE Project Manager Dong Wang, MD, PhD, and Guy Reed, MD, PhD, Dean Emeritus. Please reach out to Sabrina Uddin with any questions.

  • Scholarly Project - Every student at the college designs and successfully completes a hypothesis-driven research Scholarly Project. Through this process, students learn about medical information literacy, life-long learning, teamwork, effective communication, research methods, evidence-based medicine approaches and ethics related to scholarly inquiry.

  • Lab Volunteers and Interns - Those interested in volunteering in a lab at the College can complete the Lab Volunteer Form. Their information is made available to researchers at the college who are looking for volunteers.
