  • Champions for Change: A Train-the-Trainer Program to Strengthen Rural Addiction and Mental Health Care in Arizona. Champions for Change is an innovative initiative by the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix aimed at empowering rural clinicians to become local leaders in addiction and mental health care. In partnership with the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), the program provides in-depth training and mentorship to help participants deliver evidence-based, integrated care for individuals affected by substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. By equipping rural providers with specialized knowledge and practical tools, Champions for Change strengthens healthcare capacity, expands access to treatment, and advances health equity across Arizona’s underserved communities.
