Arts at the Phoenix Bioscience Core
Art inspires creativity, problem solving, communication and empathy — qualities that are vital for the researchers, faculty, staff and students who learn and work at the Phoenix Bioscience Core (PBC). By integrating Phoenix’s art and culture into our innovation district, the PBC fosters meaningful community connections and enriches understanding across science, education and the arts.
Connecting Science and the Arts
To strengthen these connections, the PBC established the PBC Arts Committee, formerly chaired by founding faculty member of the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix Cynthia Standley, PhD. The committee explores innovative ways to bring art into the PBC and create shared experiences for both the campus and the wider Phoenix community.
How the PBC Supports the Arts
Through its programs and initiatives, the PBC provides opportunities for collaboration between artists and scientists, including:
- Commissioned projects that feature the work of local artists.
- Program participation, where artists can create, exhibit and sell their work throughout the PBC.
- Community presentations that connect artists with scientists, faculty and residents of Phoenix.
- Collaborative programming such as workshops, museum visits and other events that deepen connections between research and the arts.
