Overview

The goal of our Hematology and Oncology Fellowship Program is to train a new generation of hematologists and oncologists to provide comprehensive, cutting edge, compassionate and holistic care to patients with cancer and blood disorders. Trainees will develop clinical and research expertise in our nationally recognized tertiary cancer center in the Phoenix metropolitan area. These future hematologists and oncologists will become leaders in cancer research, clinical care, health advocacy and management, as well as medical education.

Fellows receive training from committed faculty members at the Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center. Our tertiary referral, multi-disciplinary cancer center is one of the largest cancer centers in the Southwest. The complexity of the diseases and the diversity of our patient population will expose our fellows to the broadest breadth and greatest depth of training possible. Our fellows will acquire clinical excellence in the fields of hematology, medical oncology and cellular therapy to be true experts in the field and in their chosen subspecialities. Their training will be further enriched in the second half of fellowship where through close mentorship, fellows pursue individual career goals through a variety of training tracks that reflect our academic hybrid model.

The success of our program is defined by our ability to assist each fellow in achieving their career goals and excel in their practice of hematology/oncology. Our fellowship program is a 36-month ACGME accredited training program based on ABIM standards for the training of physicians in the specialties of hematology and oncology. Our program provides advanced training in the diagnosis and management of classic hematological diseases, malignant hematology, solid tumors, stem cell transplant, CAR-T and other cell therapies, and palliative care. Our fellows will become compassionate clinicians dedicated to the care of hematological and oncological disorders.
