2024 Year in Review
The University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix highlights some of our top stories from 2024

Convocation marks a student's transition from the classroom to practicing medicine. It is the end of their medical school journey that has taken them four years to complete, and it is the culmination of all they have worked so hard for.

This year marked the 15th class from the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix to take part in the annual ceremony. When the university opened its doors in 2007, Arizona was badly in need of doctors. Since that time, the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix has graduated over 1,000 physicians.

During their Convocation, graduating students participated in three essential elements: the academic procession, the hooding ceremony and the Convocation address.

Graduating students at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix hold true to these historical practices. Yet even before entering the procession, partaking in the hooding ceremony and reciting the oath, students engaged in a day of celebrations. It all began with the Phoenix Med Awards, where graduates and faculty were honored with awards designated by specialty and achievement for humanism and scholarship. It was a day to celebrate all they have done and all they will do.
