Placenta Accreta Spectrum of Excellence

The Placenta Accreta Spectrum (PAS) Center of Excellence at Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix — housed as part of the Maternal-Fetal Medicine division — proudly holds the distinction of being the only hospital in Arizona formally recognized by the Arizona Perinatal Trust as a PAS Center of Excellence. This exclusive designation reflects our unmatched expertise, rigorous quality standards, and proven outcomes in the diagnosis and surgical management of placenta accreta, increta and percreta.

Our program is led by fellowship-trained maternal-fetal medicine specialists who are highly skilled in the diagnosis and multidisciplinary management of PAS and are also specifically trained to perform the complex surgical procedures required for these cases. We combine this expertise with a highly coordinated multidisciplinary team — including anesthesiologists, interventional radiologists, minimally invasive gynecology surgeons, urologists, critical care specialists and specialized perioperative nurses. Together, we provide seamless, individualized and evidence-based care for the most complex PAS cases in Arizona.

What We Offer
  • Expert prenatal diagnosis with high-resolution targeted ultrasound.
  • Individualized multidisciplinary delivery planning involving all relevant specialties to ensure maternal and neonatal safety.
  • Advanced surgical expertise in complex cesarean hysterectomy, performed by MFMs with specialized PAS surgical training, often in coordinated partnership with subspecialty surgeons for optimal safety.

We have developed a streamlined referral process and expedited scheduling for patients with suspected or confirmed PAS — allowing for timely diagnosis, optimized delivery timing and improved outcomes.
