Katie Brite, MD

Brief Bio

Katie Brite Hillis, MD, is the interim vice dean of Medical Education for the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix, Yuma Branch in collaboration with Onvida Health and the associate dean of Community Engagement. Through the latter role, she works with communities across the state to understand their needs and identify solutions academic medicine can provide to address them. She is also an associate clinical professor in the college's Department of Family Community and Preventive Medicine.

Some of the innovative initiatives that Dr. Brite Hillis oversees include the Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship, Three-Year Primary Care Accelerated curriculum, primary care rural graduate medical education growth and regional campus expansion. From 2019 to 2024, she served as the associate dean of Clinical Curriculum for the college, where she focused on community health — including rural and Tribal experiential learning expansion.

Dr. Brite Hillis has dedicated her career to serving the underserved and is incredibly happy to practice at Wesley Community and Health Center, where she enjoys broad spectrum primary care. A graduate of the U of A College of Medicine – Tucson, she completed her family medicine residency and chief year in the college's Family Medicine Residency program at Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix. She later completed her faculty development fellowship at the College of Medicine – Phoenix.
