The Headache Medicine Fellowship is accredited by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties (UCNS).
Application process by academic year:
- Academic Year 2026–27: Positions will occur outside of the match. Applicants should apply through the Banner Health Physician Careers portal and/or contact the Program Director for the most current instructions.
- Academic Year 2027–28 and beyond: The fellowship will participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) Headache Medicine Fellowship Match. Applicants must apply through the NRMP.

Eligibility
Applicants must have completed—or be on track to complete by the fellowship start date—an ACGME‑accredited U.S. residency. We welcome applicants from any residency background. More important than prior specialty is a demonstrated commitment to headache medicine, evidenced by clinical exposure or electives; quality‑improvement (QI) projects; scholarship; teaching; or advocacy for patients with headache and facial pain.
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation: Eligible fellows are hired into a salaried junior-faculty–scale appointment (non–J-1). J-1 fellows receive the standard GME stipend.
