Monthly Didactics, Conferences and Meetings
Fellows meet one afternoon per month for core learning activities. A didactic session is followed by two hours of Journal Club, clinical case conference or grand rounds. Monthly meetings with the fellowship director are also scheduled these days to discuss academic progress and feedback. In addition, fellows meet monthly with the team psychologist in a group or individual format to review challenging patients and aspects of self-care and resilience.
Scholarly Activity
Faculty will work with fellows to identify a focus and content specific mentor for their scholarly project. The focus may be on quality improvement, clinician-educator development or clinical research. Fellows are asked to identify an area of interest in order to reap full rewards from the effort they are expected to invest.
Fellows will also submit a clinical case report abstract in the fall for the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine Annual Assembly the following spring.

- A Palliative Medicine Grand Rounds presentation.
- Mid-year and end of year presentation on their scholarly project.
- Presentation of journal at Journal Club.
- Palliative Care Case presentations.
Clinical Services
We offer numerous clinical services for patients with advanced illness, beginning any time from the moment of diagnosis. These services are all aimed at relieving symptoms and enhancing the quality of life. Our care team includes a wide range of specialists: nurses, physicians, social workers, chaplains, pharmacists and other clinical/non-clinical faculty who offer individualized support for patients and their families.
