Brief Bio
Dr. Manish Jain’s research expertise is in molecular and cellular pharmacology and structural biology of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). Before joining the Department of Translational Neurosciences at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix campus, he was a Research Associate in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Dr. Bryan Roth’s laboratory.
He also served as a Postdoctoral Researcher in Dr. Bryan Roth’s laboratory, where he contributed to a ~$26 million DARPA-funded initiative characterizing novel psychedelic compounds for treating neuropsychiatric disorders. Dr. Jain earned his PhD in Biophysical Chemistry from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India, where he studied biophysical mechanisms governing α-, β-, and γ-synuclein aggregation in Parkinson's disease.
His research program is focused on elucidating the molecular mechanisms of G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) signaling and leveraging structural biology to enable structure-guided drug discovery for neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders. By integrating molecular pharmacology, biochemistry, biophysics, cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM), and medicinal chemistry, Dr. Jain's laboratory is dedicated to elucidating the structural and molecular mechanisms of GPCR signaling and leveraging these insights for structure-guided drug discovery. His research aims to develop next-generation neurotherapeutics for neurological and neurodegenerative disorders while advancing our fundamental understanding of disease mechanisms.
