The Division of Cardiology provides comprehensive cardiovascular care through a broad range of specialty clinics, diagnostic services and advanced treatment programs at Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix.
Clinical expertise includes general cardiology, interventional cardiology, cardiac electrophysiology, advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology, cardio-oncology, prevention, and vascular medicine. Faculty provide specialized care for patients with coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, arrhythmias, congenital heart disease, cardiomyopathies, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, amyloidosis and myocarditis, among other cardiovascular conditions.
Patients have access to advanced diagnostic and therapeutic services, including echocardiography, cardiac CT and MRI, cardiac catheterization, coronary angioplasty and stenting, structural heart interventions, electrophysiology procedures and comprehensive medical management. The division emphasizes evidence-based, minimally invasive approaches that improve outcomes and enhance patient recovery with a standard practice that minimizes hospital admission with same-day discharge for the majority of EP and cath procedures.
The division is also home to a nationally recognized Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Program, offering the full continuum of care from advanced disease management to heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support, including left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) and total artificial heart therapies. As a regional referral center and one of two transplant programs in the state, the program cares for patients with some of the most complex cardiovascular conditions in the Southwest.
