CPR Exercise Being Conducted in the Sim Center

The Center for Simulation and Innovation is particularly advantaged when it comes to accommodating large blocks of learners. Facilities encompass three wings of the Health Sciences Education Building (HSEB) at 435 N. 5th Street, Phoenix, Arizona. The center, which opened in July 2012, has the capacity to educate 160 students simultaneously. It is designed with highly adaptable simulation space and is outfitted with the latest technologies and equipment.

There are six procedure skills training labs and 14 simulation labs that include 11 hospital rooms, one emergency room and two obstetrics/surgery suites. Each simulation lab has an associated, separately located operations control room. There are nine dedicated teaching and debriefing rooms, each accommodating 12 learners. Procedure skills training labs support up to 24 or 60 learners, depending on the room. In addition, the center has access to adjacent UA and Phoenix Bioscience Core auditoriums and learning labs to accommodate even larger groups. Simulation labs mimic in-patient hospital rooms and typically include one of 19 adult or pediatric high fidelity mannequins, a hospital bed, code cart, headwall with gasses, patient and stimulus monitors, IV pole and fluids, defibrillator, medications, moulage and supplies.
