Pathology Course and Clerkship
The Department of Pathology boasts an excellent teaching faculty and well-balanced pathological curriculum, which reflects the most up-to-date medical knowledge and future trends of pathology practice.
The department provides pathology lectures by the experienced practicing pathologists of various specialties in the integrated curriculum, simulated laboratories and group discussions for first-year and second-year medical students.
A Pathology Interest Group, consisting of medical students with an interest in pathology, meets regularly with their mentors to discuss research projects, pathology rotations and future career plans.
The pathology laboratories of teaching hospitals host the supervised Clinical Pathology Clerkship for third- and fourth-year medical students. The students will have full exposure to autopsies, specimen processing, pathology diagnosis, various techniques in histology, immunochemistry, microscopy and more. The students will learn all the laboratory testing techniques in chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology, flow cytometry, cytogenetics, molecular diagnostics, laboratory operation, management and regulations.
