The mission of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is to become a preeminent destination for oral and maxillofacial clinical care and resident education.
To date, we are incredibly proud of the accomplishments of our division. For example, our residency was able to match its first and third selections from a pool of over 165 applicants for our two oral and maxillofacial categorical residency positions. In addition, Savannah Weedman, MD, our newest faculty member, has successfully performed more than six microvascular head and neck (free flap) reconstructions since October 2017.
Moving forward, the goals of our division are to expand the clinical portion of the residency program with additional residency and faculty member positions. We are also in the beginning stages of building a research program that will function in collaboration with the Department of Surgery and the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix research programs.
