Seminar Title
- Impaired Neurohormonal Pathways in Heart Failure: from bedside to pre-clinical discoveries
Objectives
- Introduce heart failure (HF) and discuss the stages of HF progression.
- Explore the dysregulation of neurohormonal systems as the primary drivers of symptomatic heart failure (HF) and the druggable targets.
- Review the translationally relevant experimental model(s) for assessing mechanisms of HF development.
- Learn about the NP system paradox in HF and the role of the pro-atrial natriuretic peptide convertase corin in cardiac dysfunction and HF.
- Discuss protease renin as a master regulator of RAAS. Introduce the long-sought activator of circulating renin in HF and its causative role in cardiomyopathy and HF.
