Seminar Title

  • Impaired Neurohormonal Pathways in Heart Failure: from bedside to pre-clinical discoveries

Objectives

  1. Introduce heart failure (HF) and discuss the stages of HF progression.
  2. Explore the dysregulation of neurohormonal systems as the primary drivers of symptomatic heart failure (HF) and the druggable targets.
  3. Review the translationally relevant experimental model(s) for assessing mechanisms of HF development.
  4. Learn about the NP system paradox in HF and the role of the pro-atrial natriuretic peptide convertase corin in cardiac dysfunction and HF.
  5. Discuss protease renin as a master regulator of RAAS. Introduce the long-sought activator of circulating renin in HF and its causative role in cardiomyopathy and HF.
