Title: Leveraging AI for Medical Education: Precision Education

Ioannis Koutroulis, MD, an emergency medicine physician at Children's National Hospital and associate dean of MD admissions at George Washington University. He is originally from Greece, where he attended medical school and received a PhD in infectious diseases. He completed residency training in New York and a fellowship in Philadelphia at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children and Drexel University College of Medicine. At that time, he also completed an MBA in healthcare management and finance.

As the associate dean, Dr. Koutroulis provides overall leadership in medical student admissions and strategic direction and priorities for the admissions program. He also serves as the school’s representative on inter-school initiatives and university and national committees related to medical school admissions.

Dr. Koutroulis has published work on sepsis, atopic dermatitis, obesity and asthma. Dr. Koutroulis also spends a lot of his time teaching the next generation of physicians. He loves traveling all over the world and his favorite place is Santorini, Greece, where he enjoys the beautiful sunsets.
