The translational neuroscience laboratory of Amelia Gallitano, MD, PhD, is focused on understanding the way the environment interacts with genetic predisposition to influence the risk for mental illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and major depression.

The highly complex nature of these illnesses makes identifying their causes difficult. By further investigating their potential causes, they hope to be able to develop personalized treatments that will improve patient outcomes.
