Didactics 

Our clinical and didactic education incorporates the latest evidence-based medicine into all that we do. Didactics include:

  • Case-based instruction using simulation and real patients
  • Academic Half Day board preparation
  • Patient safety and quality improvement longitudinal curriculum
  • Unique focus on population health, health equity, care settings and transitions of care
  • University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix Department of Medicine Grand Rounds 

Clinical Experience

All rotations prioritize team-based clinical learning environments. The goal is to provide robust, diverse experiences to support readiness for fulfilling, sustainable, professional careers in primary care, hospital medicine, and subspecialties within internal medicine. 

Ambulatory rotations occur at Banner Medical Group – Surprise outpatient IM practice and subspecialty offices for a comprehensive training experience with a personalized curriculum.

  • Individualized educational electives in numerous specialties
  • Exposure to federally qualified health centers 
  • Incorporation of quality and safety metrics to improve patient care at the individual and population levels 
  • Inpatient rotations occur at Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center, a 390-bed referral center
  • Accepting patients from across the West Valley
  • Away rotations based on career goals
