Leigh Holdsworth
Leigh Holdsworth BHSc, MSc, MD

Medical School: The University of Sint Eustatius School of Medicine
Residency: Wellspan York Hospital, Pennsylvania – Internal Medicine
Clinical Interests: Hospital Medicine, Palliative Care, Medical Ethics, Quality of Life in Chronic Illness.

Brief Bio: Dr. Holdsworth completed an Honors Undergraduate Degree and a Master of Science in Health Science at the University of Western Ontario, Canada, with graduate research focusing on quality of life in individuals with head and neck cancer who underwent radical neck dissection. After earning their medical degree from The University of Sint Eustatius School of Medicine, they completed clinical clerkships in Chicago, Illinois, and Scottsdale, Arizona, followed by an Internal Medicine residency at Wellspan York Hospital in Pennsylvania.

Since 2017, Dr. Holdsworth has been a hospitalist with Banner Health in Arizona, where they have taken on numerous leadership roles, including Physician Facility Representative for the All of Us research program, Hospice and Palliative Care Hospitalist representative, Co-chair of the Banner Boswell Ethics Committee, member of the Banner Boswell Peer Review Committee, and Clinical Instructor at the University of Arizona.

Dr. Holdsworth is deeply committed to the growth and development of residents, emphasizing big-picture concepts such as quality of life and patient-centered care. They are passionate about mentoring the next generation of physicians to become compassionate, skilled, and ethical clinicians.

What am I most excited about in my participation in the IM residency program? I am most excited to teach residents about the importance of quality of life in patient care and to witness the transformation of intelligent, dedicated trainees into exceptional, patient-centered physicians.

Brief bio: As an associate program director, I am dedicated to the growth and development of the next generation of physicians. My focus is to mentor physicians in training to provide the best care for the patients they will encounter. Our goal is to provide residents with an immersive environment that nurtures education, compassion, collaboration, and safety.

Residency: Nassau Univ. Medical Center, Long Island, NY
Clinical Interests: Optimizing Medical communication, management of complex medical conditions, creating an ever improving, excelling medical care environment centered on the Patient-Physician partnership.
Brief Bio:  Before joining our program, Dr. Rodriguez served the Phoenix West Valley as Internist & Primary Care Physician since 2003. He founded True Care MD Clinics, leading three offices through the COVID-19 pandemic while serving as Chief of Staff at Banner Del Webb Medical Center. He also continued in hospital medicine, held directorships at two hospices and received Addiction Medicine training, gaining extensive expertise in palliative and hospital care.

Deeply committed to medical education he has taught students from the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix, Midwestern University, and A.T. Still University Osteopathic Colleges of Medicine, as well as training nurse practitioners and physician assistants from several Arizona institutions. He has also mentored international medical graduates preparing for U.S. ACGME Residency training.

Beyond clinical and teaching roles, he is active as a Fellow in the American College of Physicians, contributing to advocacy, physician well-being, and public policy at both state and national levels. As Chair of the Arizona Latin-American Medical Association, he promotes leadership, education, and culturally competent care, reflecting his dedication to advancing healthcare and strengthening community impact.
