Areas of academic/clinical interest: Evidence-based medicine, office-based procedures, quality improvement and patient safety, community/school-based health education and pathway programming, LGBTQ care, primary care dermatology.
Brief Bio: Dr. Anderson grew up in the East Valley and is excited to be back working in the community following the first decade of his career in downtown Phoenix. Prior to becoming program director, he served in multiple different positions including as core faculty for the UACOM-P Phoenix FM program, as preceptor for a student-run clinic at a local FQHC, as GME-lead for patient safety and quality improvement, and as clinical-lead for various work including the Banner Health Hypertension workgroup. Since its inception in 2015, Dr. Anderson has hosted and worked as editor for the American Family Physician podcast. Outside of work, Dr. Anderson is a self-described "coffee snob" and can usually be found enjoying the outdoors with his wife, Crystal, and two children, Liam and Milo, biking, hiking, backpacking, and exploring national parks.

Areas of Interest: Geriatric medicine, inpatient medicine, hospice, and palliative care
Brief Bio: As a lifelong Arizona resident, Dr. Hunt is thrilled to be involved in the Banner Desert Family Medicine Residency! During her career, she has worked primarily as a hospitalist across multiple hospital systems. She has also worked seeing geriatric patients at an assisted living facility,  worked as a hospice medical director, and participated in non-clinical work as a physician advisor and teaching clinical skills to medical students. When not working, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband Christian, their daughter Emma, and their dog Winston.

Francena (Fran) Harvey

Program Coordinator

Brief Bio: Prior to becoming program administrator Fran was a program coordinator for Phoenix Internal Medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine –for over 8 years. Before starting with Banner Health, she had an extensive career with AT&T in various positions within the company, starting in her hometown of Chicago Illinois to Denver Colorado-she was a recruiter and test administrator that allowed her to travel across the USA recruiting and testing for jobs nationwide (before internet).
Fran’s passions center on helping others- volunteering rejuvenates her. Her work includes everything from the local Arabian horse show to an usher at the Herberger Theater, volunteering at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade, working on build a Bed, also volunteering at Banner Children’s Golf open and collaborating with senior citizens in the city.
She is so excited to be a part of this growing family medicine team in the East Valley and the new and innovative adventures that are ahead for her, the team, and the community.

Haley Hochstein, DO
Haley Hochstein, DO

Areas of academic interest: newborn care, women’s health, caring for hospitalized patients, public health, behavioral health in primary care.
Brief Bio: Dr. Hochstein is originally from Maryland where she was born and raised. She studied at both Johns Hopkins University and Georgetown University before moving to Arizona in 2018 to pursue medical training. During her medical training, she cultivated an interest in academic medicine and medical education. She served as chief resident at UACOM-P with her fellow co-faculty member, Dr. Voy. She is excited to help foster an inclusive training environment with opportunities for community engagement here at Banner Desert Family Medicine.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband Adam and their two dogs, exploring Arizona, and spending time outdoors working on her garden.

Areas of Interest: Preventative medicine, community oriented primary care
Brief Bio: Dr. Albert Hsia is an Arizona native with a strong passion for preventative medicine and clinical education. He served as Chief Resident during his family medicine residency at Mountain Vista Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona and practices locally at Banner Health Center. He enjoys teaching medical students from his Alma Mater and A. T. Still University. Dr. Hsia enjoys spending time with his family, trail running, and aviation.

Areas of academic interest: organized medicine, advocacy, inpatient and outpatient medicine, office-based procedures
Brief Bio: Dr. Voy studied Environmental Science at Duke University and has an MS from ASU in the Science of Healthcare Delivery. She loves being a family medicine physician in Arizona and is excited to help train new family medicine doctors. Her other professional interests include organized medicine and advocacy. She has been a Vot-ER Civic Health Fellow, a resident member of the AzAFP Board of Directors, an AzAFP Health Policy Scholar, and a member of the AAFP Commission on Federal and State Policy. Outside of work, she enjoys trying new foods and spending time with family, friends, and dogs.

Residency Training: University of Southern California/ LA County Obstetrics and Gynecology 
Areas of academic interest: Patient safety/ peer review/ all areas of reproductive health/ medical anthropology.
Brief Bio: Dr. Gottfried is an Arizona native who has maintained a private OB/GYN practice in Mesa for 25 years. She has served as a preceptor in the Clinical Competency Experience (CCE) with the College of Medicine – Phoenix for over a decade. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Gottfried has held leadership roles, including chair of the OB/GYN department at Banner Desert and chair of the OB/GYN peer review. She has also contributed as a committee member and system peer reviewer. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her dogs and hiking with the Arizona Trailblazers hiking club. Dr. Gottfried is excited to contribute to this dynamic new residency program!

Brief Bio: Dr. Hanif is a pediatric hospitalist at Banner Children’s at BDMC, where she enjoys caring for newborns and acutely ill children. She loves working alongside her team, doing procedures, and teaching medical students and residents. She's looking forward to partnering with Family Medicine programs to help strengthen their pediatric training. Outside of work, Dr. Hanif enjoys spending time with her husband, two children, and their cat. She’s a fan of travel, baking, baseball and crafting
