Why University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix: Having grown up in Arizona, I was excited about the chance to stay in the Phoenix area while pursuing my goal of caring for underserved communities. I was impressed by my interview with Banner Desert and was immediately drawn to the program because of the welcoming, supportive environment and how easy it was to connect with the faculty and other residents. I was also excited about their focus on vulnerable populations and the chance to train at a Level 1 trauma center with a high volume of complex cases, which will prepare me for a career dedicated to serving these communities. I look forward to helping shape the culture of this new residency and to continuing to make it a wonderful place to train for future classes!
Hobbies and Personal Interests: I love spending time with my husband, family and friends, as well as playing board/card games, travelling, gardening, and reading.

Why University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix: I chose UofA - Banner Desert because of the people! The faculty felt genuinely supportive and the residents were both happy and excited to be there. The free medical Spanish course was a huge plus because it would help me integrate my biliteracy with more confidence. There was also a lot of flexibility in designing electives, along with outpatient experiences integrated throughout all three years, which I loved. Combined with the amazing location, this program felt like the right fit for me.

Why University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix: I chose this residency because, as a newer program, it gives me the chance to be involved in building something meaningful and helping shape the culture. It’s also in Arizona, which makes it even more special since it’s my home state and where I ultimately hope to practice and serve the community long-term.
Hobbies and Personal Interests: Hiking, reading, and playing with my dog.

Why University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix: The welcoming atmosphere of the program made it clear that this is a place where I will be supported both personally and professionally. I was especially drawn to the program’s commitment to resident well-being and the approachable faculty who are eager to teach. I value the opportunity to train in a community setting while still benefiting from the resources of a larger academic center. I also appreciate how responsive the program is to resident feedback. The East Valley is an amazing place to live, with great food and plenty to explore. I am excited to grow here as a physician and as a person.

Why University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix: University of Arizona Banner Desert FMRP offered me a learning environment rooted in evidence-based medicine, diverse community experiences, and strong hands-on clinical exposure while caring for patients in my home state. Training here and learning from a dedicated, passionate team gives me the phenomenal opportunity to become a well-rounded, full-spectrum family medicine physician.
Hobbies and Personal Interests: Reading, Cooking/Baking, Crafting of all sorts.
