The Division of Endocrinology is dedicated to advancing education and training in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism. Our faculty support learners through clinical experiences that emphasize professionalism, humanism and patient-centered care. Training spans the full medical education continuum — from students and residents to fellows — and is grounded in mentorship and interdisciplinary collaboration. We are committed to preparing the next generation of highly skilled endocrinologists and physician-scientists.

Graduate Medical Education Programs in the Division

Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Fellowship – This two-year, ACGME-accredited program equips fellows with the core skills essential for the practice of general endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism. Training includes advanced procedural experience, such as thyroid ultrasound and fine-needle aspiration. In the second year, fellows pursue specialized clinical or research training tailored to their interests. Rotations are structured to build progressively on knowledge and skills, fostering increased levels of independence and clinical sophistication.

Residency Training – The Division of Endocrinology provides enriching clinical experiences for internal medicine residents through electives and inpatient consult services. Residents gain exposure to diverse aspects of endocrine care — including office endocrinology, pediatric endocrinology, women’s health and neuroendocrinology — across multiple training sites such as the Phoenix VA and Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix. These experiences strengthen residents’ understanding of endocrine disorders within a multidisciplinary, patient-centered framework.
