The U.S. records roughly 12, 000 to 14,000 cases of the brain and spinal cord cancer glioblastoma every year. Researchers in the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix, recently began open enrollment for a Phase 2 clinical trial of a treatment including the medication Dubodencel that activates patients' immune system to detect and destroy tumors. "So with this particular vaccine, we acquire a piece of the patient's tumor during surgery. We make a vaccine specific to the patient's tumor," said assistant professor of Neurosurgery at the college Joseph Georges, DO.
