Julie Bowe Joins the U of A College of Medicine – Phoenix as Director of Development
Julie Bowe, has joined the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix as director of Development.
A native Phoenician, Ms. Bowe has supported health care across the community for more than 20 years, serving on philanthropic boards and nonprofit foundations in numerous roles. She brings extensive experience in strategic fundraising and community engagement to her new role.
Ms. Bowe’s personal interest in medicine was ignited when her son required cardiac surgery just days after he was born. The family entrusted his care to the exceptional team at Phoenix Children’s. As a grateful patient, she became a tireless advocate for investing in medicine and helping patients access the care they need, raising millions in support of physicians and nonprofit organizations.
Continuing her family’s commitments to community and philanthropy, she is deeply embedded in the Phoenix community. She raised her three children here and maintains a strong network of connections across industries and organizations.
Ms. Bowe has held several influential committee roles throughout her career — including as a trustee of the ARCS Foundation, Inc. and regent for the State of Arizona division of the George Washington Foundation. She supported the National Kidney Foundation of Arizona’s mission to seek solutions for kidney and urinary tract disease over 18 years, serving as a board trustee, development officer and event chair.
She received her bachelor’s degree in global health from Arizona State University and a CITI Program certification in human research.
Ms. Bowe started her role in August and hit the ground running. In the weeks since she joined the college, she has already secured two major gifts from donors who have requested to remain anonymous.
"Philanthropy is essential to our college’s ability to grow and fulfill the mission we all strive to support each day. Ms. Bowe shares our dedication to advancing medicine through education, research and engagement. Please join me in welcoming her to the U of A College of Medicine – Phoenix," said Dean Fred E. Wondisford, MD, MS, MBA.
