Students have matched in Ophthalmology At Match Day, future graduates celebrated the end of one journey and the beginning of another. For the College of Medicine – Phoenix’s Class of 2025, stepping into the unknown is hardly a new task. Dealing with the continued effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the class journeyed through their first year with resilience and determination. Despite the challenges around them, they pressed forward — and on Friday, March 21, they arrived at Match Day with unrivaled elation. Their achievements, including these competitive ophthalmology matches, are a testament to their dedication, adaptability, and strength.

Ophthalmology Didactic and Eyeball Dissection Event: On Saturday, March 23, 2024, Dr. Mandi Conway, Chair of Ophthalmology, along with Dr. Jonathan Lass and Dr. Robin Ross, organized an engaging didactic session and hands-on dissection of eyeballs with ophthalmologists.

Global Ophthalmology Summit in Portland, Oregon: In August 2024, Dr. Karl Golnik and Dr. Misha Faustina represented the department at the Global Ophthalmology Summit in downtown Portland. The summit focused on the current state of global eye health, the role of technology and innovation in preventing blindness, global educational initiatives, and eye research priorities.
