Participants will gain a broad range of unique clinical and surgical experience focusing on arthroscopic and open reconstructive surgery of athletic injuries, treatment, and prevention. The fellow will enhance their field skills by working directly with coaches, athletic trainers, physical therapists, and athletes on a daily basis. Arthroscopic cadaver training, research, and attendance at national meetings will provide additional experience.
- The fellow will be actively involved in athletic coverage at the professional, collegiate, and high school levels.
- The fellow will also interact with BUMCP (Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix) Orthopaedic Surgery residents on the sports medicine service and have active involvement in Primary Care Sports Medicine and the Banner Concussion Center.
- The fellow will qualify as a fellow and subsequently a candidate member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Society.
Team Coverage
The fellow will spend time throughout the year covering the full array of sporting events including high school football in the fall, the Phoenix Suns NBA team, and the Milwaukee Brewers minor league team and major league spring training.
