The College of Medicine – Phoenix International Research Fellowship Program is dedicated to nurturing global connections through research development and publication, under the guidance of experienced faculty mentors here at the University of Arizona, College of Medicine – Phoenix.

The research fellowship program is designed to equip and empower fellows with enriched research insights and advanced systems experience to their home countries. By immersing themselves in this transformative experience, candidates not only contribute to the global advancement of medical knowledge but also establish enduring connections that transcend borders.

Applicant Eligibility

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduated from Medical School
  • Passed USMLE 2 exam (*only required for specific departments)
  • Full comprehension of the English language, both written and oral
  • Research experience is preferred
  • Commit to a self funded fellowship of at least 24 months
  • Meet criteria for securing a qualifying visa from the United States Embassy in the applicant’s country of origin to remain in the U.S. for the duration of the fellowship.

Fees and Funding Requirements

Please find below the list of fees associated with your application:

  1. Application Fee: A non-refundable application fee of $120.00 is required before your initial documents can be reviewed.
  2. IFS Fees: After you are accepted into our program, our team will work with you on the required paperwork for the DS-2019/J-1 visa. The documents will then be reviewed by our International Faculty & Scholars (IFS) office. Please note that the IFS office charges certain fees, which you can find more information here: IFS Fees
  3. Annual Program Fee: After receiving your visa and prior to starting your program, you will be charged a program fee of $1,200.00 annually.
