The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix and Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix provides advanced, multidisciplinary care for patients with respiratory, critical illness and sleep disorders. With nationally recognized specialists in asthma, COPD, interventional pulmonology, pulmonary hypertension, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), lung transplantation and interstitial lung disease, the division delivers cutting-edge, patient-centered care that transforms outcomes for individuals with advanced respiratory and critical illnesses.

Our 44 faculty members provide comprehensive inpatient (24/7 faculty coverage) and outpatient care across Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix, the Arcadia Ambulatory Clinic and the Phoenix VA Health Care System.

The division leads major programs in both pulmonary and critical care medicine, including specialized expertise in:

  • Critical Care: Toxicology ICU, Neuroscience ICU, Cardiovascular ICU (heart transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, total artificial heart and ECMO).
  • Pulmonary Medicine: Pulmonary hypertension, interstitial lung disease, airway disease and interventional pulmonary procedures.
