Program Overview

Summer Scrubs is a health career exploration program that helps high school students prepare for their future in the health professions. With this program, students will get the opportunity to participate in professional lectures, and hands-on lab experiences. "Scrub in" this summer at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix!

2026 Summer Scrubs Sessions

Explore Medicine Program

The Explore Medicine Program sessions are for current 11^th grade students who are interested in becoming a physician. Participants will explore several physician specialties by learning from various medical doctors.

Residential Camp (PDF): *Current 11^th Grade Students (Rising Seniors)

• Dates: May 31 – June 6.
• Cost: $500, which includes room & board, meals, camp activities, scrubs, t-shirt, group transportation during camp, and group evening activities (**full & partial needs-based scholarships are available).

Day Camp (PDF): *Current 11^th Grade Students (Rising Seniors)

• Dates: June 8 – June 12.
• Time: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
• Cost: $300, which includes meals, camp activities, scrubs, and t-shirt (**full & partial needs-based scholarships are available).

The Healthcare Team

The Healthcare Team (PDF): *Current 9^th & 10^th Grade Students (Rising Sophomores and Juniors)

• Dates: June 15 – June 18 (no camp June 19 in observance of Juneteenth).
• Time: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
• Cost: $250, which includes meals, camp activities, scrubs, and t-shirt (**full & partial needs-based scholarships are available).
• Before applying, please read through the application information (PDF).

**Full and partial need-based scholarships provided by Central Arizona Area Health Education Center (CAAHEC). You can apply for the scholarship when you submit your application.

Application

Applications are for Summer Scrubs 2026 will be open December 1, 2025 to March 1, 2026. To review the application questions, read through the updated application information is attached handout (PDF). All applicants are required to provide the name and contact information of a non-family reference (e.g., teacher, coach, mentor, or supervisor) who can provide a recommendation on their behalf. The recommendation will be submitted via an online form.
