Eric N. Olson, PhD, is the founding Chair of Molecular Biology at UT Southwestern and Director of the Hamon Center for Regenerative Science & Medicine and the Wellstone Muscular Dystrophy Clinical Research Center. He holds multiple distinguished chairs in molecular biology, stem cell research, and cardiac birth defects.

Olson and his trainees discovered core transcription factors governing cardiac and skeletal muscle development and disease, reshaping cardiovascular and muscle biology and enabling therapeutic strategies. Recently, his laboratory pioneered a gene-editing approach that corrects most Duchenne muscular dystrophy mutations, demonstrating efficacy in human cells and animal models and advancing toward clinical translation. A cited scientist, Olson is a member of the National Academies, an investigator, a mentor, and a biotechnology founder committed to translating discovery into medicine.

With more than 300 publications in high impact peer-reviewed journals, Dr. Olson's works have been cited more than 200,000 times, supporting an H-index 248.
