Seminar Title
- Glypican 1 mechanosensing in acute pulmonary edema
Objectives
- To introduce the pathophysiology of pulmonary edema with emphasis in flash pulmonary edema. Learners will familiarize themselves with the severity and available treatment of pulmonary edema.
- To explain how mechanical forces and mechano-sensing proteins may function as triggers for edema development. Learners will understand how the glycocalyx sense mechanical forces.
- To unravel the mechanisms by which glypican 1 drives oxidative signaling that drives pulmonary endothelial barrier disfunction and edema. Learners will examine glypican 1 as a target for edema treatment.
BMS Faculty Hosts
- Taben Hale, PhD
