The vision for our Anesthesiology residency program is centered around the following tenets:
- Contemporary Adult Education: The residency will integrate advanced didactic instruction with immersive, hands-on training grounded in modern adult learning principles. Simulation will serve as a foundational component early in training and remain a core element throughout the program. It offers a controlled, risk-free setting for residents to manage uncommon but critical clinical scenarios while also promoting rapid development of technical and cognitive skills—helping trainees gain proficiency more efficiently in a high-acuity, fast-paced clinical environment.
- Clinical excellence and patient-centered care: The residency will be a model of excellence within our specialty. We are committed to fostering a culture centered on compassionate, patient-focused care. A key priority of the program is ensuring safe, timely access to surgical and procedural services by training residents to deliver anesthesia that is both high-quality and efficient.
- Research and innovation: Research will serve as a central pillar of our program. Through meaningful innovation and scholarly work, our residents and faculty will extend their impact far beyond the bedside—advancing new techniques and therapies that improve care for patients they may never personally encounter.
- Well-being: We are dedicated to supporting each resident’s unique strengths and professional interests while fostering a sustainable balance between work and life. By prioritizing well-being and actively addressing burnout, we aim to create an environment where every resident can thrive and reach their full potential.
This vision belongs to all of us. In partnership with our faculty, we are dedicated to building a residency program that reflects the very best of our institution and honors the communities we serve. I’m excited for what lies ahead and for the opportunity to watch our residents develop, excel, and leave a lasting impact.
