The Faculty Advisory Council (FAC) is a standing committee at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix. It serves as a conduit for faculty engagement in the shared governance of the College. Charged with representing faculty perspectives, the council provides thoughtful, strategic insight to the dean and collaborates closely with college leadership to support the College’s academic mission.

The council convenes monthly, with additional quarterly meetings held jointly with the Dean’s Office to ensure alignment on key priorities and to foster open dialogue between faculty and administration.

Each academic year, the council identifies and sets strategic priorities in consultation with faculty and in alignment with institutional goals. Recent areas of focus have included:

  • Enhancing feedback mechanisms.
  • Cultivating a sense of accomplishment.
  • Promoting teaching excellence.
  • Increasing transparency.

In addition to these priorities, the council plays a proactive role as the elected shared governance body that assists in the formation of search and review committees, identifying emerging faculty-related challenges and opportunities, advocating for faculty needs and fostering a collaborative culture across the College.
